Dragon's Keep is a semi-lit/literate roleplay held on Discord.
It takes inspiration from fantasy and is influenced by mythology from around the world as well as our own minds.
Our current story takes place in Azielan, an eastern-influenced continent.
Characters in the roleplay are in a guild with the aim of protecting and helping others.
* Please note that this forum is only meant to be supplemental to the Discord server.
Main events and roleplay will still take place on the server. This is only here to help with further character interaction and development for those who may care for such a thing.
It can be quite a trial to have certain interactions on a server without them getting lost in the fray due to the time concerns. This forum was made as a way to work around that! 😊
--/--/2019 ✨ The Azielan update is here! ✨ Like the new design? The forums recieved a big makeover! There is also a new "Roleplay" category featuring both Nysa and Azielan. He watched her gaze shift through the options on the menu, seeing her eyes switch from confusion, annoyance, and back to confusion. A small smile of amusement crept to his face, it was clear she most likely hadn’t been to a place like this before and the menu was a lot to handle. Deciding to give her a break he asked a simple question that she could have given a thousand different answers to. Literally her favorite color would have been a reasonable answer yet she went for a much more interesting route, but from what he had experienced with her so far he wasn’t really surprised.
He cockadoodledooadoodledooed an eyebrow when she said her brother was only half a lie, but she didn’t elaborate so he didn’t ask. Suddenly she had an extremely mischievous smile on her face and instructed him to turn his focus to a man in a navy suit. He glanced over at her with narrowed eyes, wondering what she was up to before fixed his eyes in the man with his friends. After a moment he looked down at the floor and started screaming, immediately jumping up onto his chair pointing towards the ground. The others at his table followed suit and wildly looked around towards the floor in search of what was there. Alex did the same, looking down to see what had scared the man only to be met with nothing. He looked over to Blake and saw that her focus was trained on on the floor and her eyes almost seemed glazed over.
“It’s you,” he stated the obvious observation aloud. “Illusions.” He our two and two together, seeing as there was nothing there but the man in the navy suit clearly thought otherwise. He made the small movement of his hand signaling her to cut it out since it was beginning to make a scene. His attempt at telling her to stop was backfired when the man in the navy suit locked eyes with him as he did it. Suddenly he got to his feet and began stomping towards their table.
“Hey! Little girl it was you wasn’t it!?” He bellowed as he pointing an accusing finger at her as he made his way towards her.
Alex was up and out of his chair, placing himself between her and the approaching man. Putting his hands up in an attempt to look nonthreatening.
“I apologize for her, she was just playing a harmless game-“ he started but the man gave a shove to his shoulder.
“I’m gonna show you little elf boy who’s not harmless!” He growled. Alex glanced over at Blake and mouthed ‘my turn’ with a wink. Turning back around just in time to see the mans hand balled into a fist as he pulled it back, ready to swing. He had nothing against humans but he always felt like they were a little clumsy and slow if he was honest. He casually leaned to the side to avoid his face being met with the man’s large fist. Alex decided to show off a bit, he held up a hand and with a sly grin his fingers snapped. A stream of crackling electricity left his fingers, meeting the man at his shoulder. The voltage caused him to fly back and knock into a nearby table.
“Whoops.” Alex sprung back into action, whipping around he threw a couple silver coins onto the table to pay for his drink before he grabbed Blake’s hand and made a dash for the exit. On the way out a waitress had a basket of bread that was probably going to their table anyways and he quickly plucked it from her hand with a rushed ‘Thank you!’ Before he made a quick departure through the front door. There was some yelling behind them so he took a turn down the nearest alley and made a couple more lefts and rights before they wound up in a little garden that was enclosed by the leaves of the trees that slightly curved inwards to create a small dome. Sitting on a bench against a water fountain he pat the seat next to him before he let out a tired sigh.
“Is your life always this interesting? Because mine is certainly not.” He huffed out a chuckle before he took a bite from one of the breadsticks that he had snatched. He looked at the pieces of the sky that he could still see through the filter of the leaves, noticing that sunset was approaching, time flies when you’re having fun huh? At the thought that the day was close to being over made him a little upset for a reason that he couldn’t explain, it made him confused. As crazy as the day had been, it was probably the most fun he had had in a long time and he found himself not wanting it to end.

Blake had manifested the idea of a violent python on the ground in front of the man that was ready to strike. She was pleased to see Alex's surprised reaction to her little trick. She didn't often tell others of her power considering that'd give them a huge advantage over her, but she felt she made the right decision as he put together what was going on. His indication to stop fell upon deaf ears, however, as Blake was just getting started, ready for her finale of making the snake lunge towards the navy suit guy's face. Although, she quickly cut short her illusion she she caught the sight of a woman at the man's table pointing an accusing finger at her. Alex's gesture to stop didn't help either as the man finally realized what had happened and marched right over to them.
His violent steps set Blake on edge and as he went for her she immediately pushed herself out of her seat and took a few step backwards before Alex was stopping a fight from breaking out the second time today. The man's violent shoves towards Alex caused Blake to grow angry and she called out for him to stop before she made her way over to probably smack the man over the head, but she stopped once Alex turned around and gave a wink implying he had some sort of plan. Suddenly, with a quick snap of the fingers, a bolt of electricity flung through the upset man and he was transcending into another table. Blake nearly jumped back a mile from the startling situation, but her bewildered face quickly turned into a large grin as she realized what had just happened. She nearly forgot that Alex had powers as well. Plus, he had electricity powers? She was jealous!
The screaming was what alerted Blake of their sudden predicament, but she felt a hand grab hers and her feet instinctively moved at a rapid pace. Alex had snatched a bag of bread and she appreciated that at least his priorities were in order. Blake blindly followed the rights and lefts they made in hope that the elf knew what he was doing, for some reason she didn't peg him to be in these scenarios very often. Once they stopped running, Blake took a gulp of air in as she caught her breath from the sudden sprint. At least it seemed like they escaped any angry mob.
Looking around at their new location, she appreciated the serenity of the garden. It highly contrasted the situation they had just escaped. That was something wasn't it? Blake was in a fancy restaurant for less than ten minutes and she already managed to run it into insanity. To be fair, Alex had helped in that. Yeah, this time it wasn't her entire fault. Speaking of her new fellow convict, she took up his offer to sit and took a breadstick for herself, tearing it in half and appreciating the heat it gave off before taking a bite.
Blake considered his question, realizing that she did have a pretty odd way of getting around, "Yep, just another day in paradise." she laughed but wasn't lying. She had a tendency of ensuing catastrophes every chance she had. It was pretty easy to get away with things here, so might as well use that to her advantage. Glancing over at Alex, she wondered what it was like to live a boring prim and proper life like she assumed he had, "If you stick with me then maybe your life wouldn't be so dull." she teased as he mentioned that this was new for him. What was the joy in life if you weren't considered a felon in some parts of town?

He let out a light chuckle at he remark of paradise.
“We must have different ideas of paradise.” He laughed, throwing his head back to look up at what pieces of the sky he could see through the blanket of leaves. He looked over towards her when she mentioned something about his life being dull. He was almost slightly offended at her tease. He pursed his lips I’m thought, going back in his memories to scab over the countless days he’s been alive.
“Maybe so.” he said honestly. His eyes trailed over her short but pointed ears, reminding him of her race. He always remembered humans and halflings short lifespans, he felt bad for them in a way. Their lives were so short and they had so little time to grace the earth.
“I pity you in a way,” he began, looking back up to watch the sky begin to change colors signaling the sun was slowly being replaced with the moon. “Your lifespan is so short, I can’t imagine how you have enough time to do the things you want and having to watch people you know die around you constantly because of old age.” He spoke his thoughts aloud, not bothering to hide his opinions. “But I suppose you may feel the same towards my kind. That we live so long that we might just waste away on empty days with nothing to do.” He pondered how others may view the elves, since they can live up to a millennia.
“But I’m inspired by you for the same reason honestly.” He turned towards her, resting the side of his head on his hand. “Your life is short so you make each day interesting. So maybe I should stick around you, huh?” He gave her a grin before taking a bite of another stolen breadstick. The daylight was beginning to fade and everything took in a blue-ish hue as the sky darkened.

Blake gave Alex a funny look as he suddenly turned philosophical and all melancholic. She scoffed, not wanting his pity as it made her feel degraded, "What do you mean? My father is the one that's going to watch my mother and I die before him. If anything, you elves are the ones that have to watch everyone die around you." Blake was quick to correct him as she grew defensive. She didn't really have much need to fear a short lived life. Death wasn't approaching her anytime soon and she didn't even care to worry about what was going to happen tomorrow, much less what was going down decades from now. Although, she did believe that more time would be fun. Who wants to be old and gross by the age 30?! Her prime days were definitely over by then when Alex was probably still a child at 30.
"Are all elves this depressing?" Blake raised an eyebrow after he finished his first statement. She never thought about death, until now.
"Well, I'm glad to hear that you find me inspiring, but frankly, if I did have a whole thousand years to live I'd probably just be doing the same thing I'm doing now. It doesn't matter if you've got a day left or a million, just don't be boring." Wow, the words of a true philosopher. Someone should engrave that in stone, maybe put it on Blake's impending tombstone. Despite her reluctance towards the unwanted deep conversation, she smiled at Alex's closing statement, "Great idea. Then you can be the one to see me all old and wrinkly and hopefully put me out of my misery. I'll die before I have to deal with being an old grandma."
Staring up at the sky turning to dusk, Blake had her palms flat on the bench as the tip of her boots touched the floor. The cool breeze sweeping through the cracks in the leaves signaled the coming night. This was by far her favorite time. Especially in the city, only the fun people came out at night. Alex's next comment caused her to shrug nonchalantly. "I live a little ways outside of town. I was supposed to be home before it got dark, but I doubt my parents really thought that would happen. What about you? Anyone going to send a search party to see where you went? Or possibly you have a golden carriage awaiting your return?" she mocked lightheartedly, her personality easily canceling out the previous depth that had been introduced.

He let out a laugh when she seemed a little caught off guard by the suddenly deep conversation. He gave her a brittle smile at the mention of him being the one to watch everyone die around him.
”More than you know.” He mumbled more to himself than anyone else and there was a chance she didn’t even hear. His mind began to drift into memories that he had shut out years ago, to Lily. His eyebrows slightly furrowed for a reason he didn’t explain before he snapped back to the present and slammed the doors of bittersweet memories within his mind closed. He turned back to face her with a set smile.
“Hey, my old man grandpa talks have to come out every once in awhile you know.” He pretended to pout when she seemed bored of his choice of conversation.
He let out a small laugh at her preach of being the same if she could live for centuries, he found her point of view amusing. When you feel like you live forever you get quite bored, he speaks from experience.
He rolled his eyes at her remark of him having a golden carriage awaiting him.
“Ha ha, funny.” He mocked a laugh with an amused smile as he crossed his arms.
“I rode here on a horse that’s waiting in the stable, I was leading up to asking if you wanted a ride home.” He asked with an eyebrow raised. For whatever reason, Blake was easy to talk to. Despite the fact that she was usually giving him some sort of sassy remark or some sort of joke, he found it comforting to be in her presence. He bit back a frown at the thought, it was pointless to grow attached to a friend that you’ll probably never see again and even if they kept in touch his previous conversation hung above him like a cloud. He was almost afraid to make friends with anyone other than an elf, because he knew at some point, a lot sooner than he would ever hope, they would die. The thought of Lily plagued his social life wherever he went and made him distant towards making possible friends, he found little happiness in growing to like someone only to lose them so he just kept to himself. But Blake’s testimony lingered in his head, she seemed to always live carefree in the present, not ever really caring about where it would take her and the consequences that would follow. Maybe she took it to another level but he wondered if he should take her wise words of advice and not worry so much about the future and try to be less ‘boring’. Pushing his internal dilemma aside, he stood up from the bench and swiveled around to face her.
”Now, what kind of friend would I be if I didn’t get you home on time?”
